The RAAF received 49 of the older K serialled Battles from the first and second Fairey Battle production batches.

Deliveries from the RAF comprised :

  • 15 Battle Mk1's from the first production batch of 155 Battle I's (serialled K7558 to K7712) delivered from Fairey (Hayes) between May 1937 and May 1938 under contract 321541/35.
     

  • 34 Battle Mk1's from the second production batch of311 Battle I's serialled (K9176 to K9486) delivered from Fairey (Stockport) between May 1938 and February 1939 under contract 768880/38.

Most of them had seen extensive service with the RAF prior to being prepared for shipment to Australia with majority of them being dispatched via 47 Maintenance Unit based at RAF Sealand in Flintshire, Wales.
