Sold by GSB Tender Number 5926 to G. Oman in May 1958 for 150 pounds but not collected.
Resold to ANSA Co, Nelson and scrapped.

Numerous parts of this aircraft including the aircraft data plates sold to Philip Warner in the United Kingdom early in 21st century for rebuild to flying condition.
NZ2407 124-48249 45-11496 Shipped from the US on the "Dominion Park" and received at the Aircraft Assembly Depot Hobsonville on 27 August 1945. Placed in rubberised storage at Hobsonville in early 1946 and transferred to Ardmore by barge and road in February 1947. Remained cocooned until early 1952. Aircraft had been damaged during unloading at Auckland in August 1945 when it was dropped on a wharf bollard and received ventral damage aft of the mainplane. Never flown in New Zealand. Stored at Rukuhia July 1952 and reduced to spares at Te Rapa during August/September 1953.

Received at the Aircraft Assembly Depot Hobsonville on 27 August 1945.
Placed in rubberised storage at Hobsonville in early 1946.
Transferred to Ardmore by barge and road in February 1947.
Remained cocooned until early 1952.
With No.2 (Wellington) TAF Squadron 11 July 1952-18 October 1954.
Damaged in air-to-air firing at Ohakea on 07 October 1954 while the Mustang was towing a drogue during live firing practice for Vampires.
A Vampire pilot left his firing too late and a cannon shell struck the Mustang at the starboard wing root and pierced the main spar.
The aircraft returned safely to Ohakea but was grounded and never flew again.
Stored at Woodbourne. Sold by GSB Tender Number 5926 to ANSA Co, Nelson incomplete in May 1958 and broken up in 1961.

The aircraft flying in New Zealand and painted as NZ2415 is actually an ex USAF/Philippine Air Force P51 c/n 44-74829.

Sold in USA in April 1974 to Experimental Aircraft Association Flying Museum, Spokane, Washington as N921 "Cripes A'Mighty 3rd."
