NZ3000 P-40F/E 17421 41-14205   Built in 1941 as Rolls Royce Merlin powered short fuselage P-40F, served with 44th Fighter Sqn in SW Pacific. Belly landed on Erromango Is, New Hebrides 23 December 1942 after running low on fuel. Recovered in 1989, shipped to Australia for restoration. Acquired by Air Force Museum in 1996 and restored as an Allison powered P-40E, with spurious serial NZ3000. After 16 years and 22,319 man hours, it went on display in May 2013.

Remains retrieved to MOTAT in 1959 and restoration for static display commenced in 1965 using parts from a number of aircraft including the wings from NZ3201.
Exchanged for another static restoration NZ3039, following an extended legal dispute over ownership, the owners being Bunny Darby and Bob McGarry, the aircraft was then restored to flying condition.

Restoration commenced by Pacific Aircraft Ltd and completed by Pioneer-AvSpecs, using wings from P-40N-10 42-105951.

During the restoration, the aircraft was sold to Mark Hanna.
Entered the New Zealand Civil Aircraft Register on 04 December 1997 as ZK-RMH with Pacific Aircraft Ltd., Auckland.

To Old Flying Machine Co. NZ Ltd. Auckland on 05 May 1998,

Shipped to UK February 1999, arriving dismantled 19 March 1999.
Removed from New Zealand Register on 07 March 2003 as exported to United Kingdom where it flew for some years registered as G-CCBE.

Flew for some time (until end of display season 2003) as part of the Breitling Fighters display team.
Returned to New Zealand register as ZK-RMH on 18 June 2003 with Old Flying Machine Co. NZ Ltd.

Modified to two-seater.

Marked as Nationalist Chinese Air Force 88/P-11151.

To James Slade/Old Stick and Rudder co/Air Flight Trust, originally of Nelson, then Masterton in 2006.

10 January 2018 Ownership to Olivier Wulf, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Currently stored at Masterton due to legal dispute over ownership.

The aircraft collided at 10,000 feet about 20 miles from Nandi during an escort exercise while avoiding a diving attack by a USN F4F and both spun into the sea.
Squadron Leader Allan Crichton killed.
